RED JAC is a bicycle event company based in Chicago, IL. It was started by long time cyclist and everything bicycle enthusiast Eric Alvarez.
"I began cycle touring in 2008 when I rode my $300 "Frankenstein style" bicycle from Virginia Beach to San Diego. Since then, I have soloed across many states and have done dozens of organized bicycle rides. I also am in love with adventure racing and the whole culture around it. Certain people love to work really hard all day towards a certain goal within a group of like minded people and then celebrate after. I do not mean getting a beer at a local bar and going home. I mean really celebrate, not only what you just did, but the fact that you made new friends and all of this in the great outdoors. I wanted to create a ride that offers all of this to riders because damn it, we deserve it! RED JAC challenges riders with a 55 mile ride, but then allows them to really celebrate with a live concert, great food, nice people, refreshing beer and camping all night long. I want to spread this event across the entire country and offer something totally new to the cycling world."
Eric currently works in healthcare administration in the city of Chicago. He received his B.S. in Aviation Management with a minor in Speech Communication from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale (GO SALUKIS), and his M.H.A from Rush University Medical Center. When he is not working, Eric loves to play with his 85 lb mutt, read anything and everything, work on his house, travel this beautiful world, and constantly visit with friends and family.
